My son stepped on a pretty vicious but miniscule thorn several days ago. Didn’t seem too bad the first day, we treated it for itching, but that was all. Next morning his foot was super tight, hot, and swollen, and you could see the infection moving up over the top of his foot. The pain was really bothering him.
We treated it in several different ways, at first he said soaking it felt best. But it wasn’t improving so I started doing Magnascent Iodine & peroxide scrubs multiple times a day (I healed a similar infection in the past with this, after a stick went into my foot in the pasture) but what made the most dramatic difference was when he started putting Frankincense oil on it! We also used Thieves once, as well as a lymph clearing blend (of lemon, cajeput, lavender, clove, myrrh and chamomile), but the Frankincense is what he used the most because he said it felt the best. (We chose Frankincense because it has been shown to increase leukocyte activity to help fight infection, and is anti-inflammatory, anti-infections, and anti-septic.)
The first picture is what it looked like for over 24 hours. He started putting the oils on it that evening, and the second picture is the morning after! In 12 hours it had drastically improved, the redness was going down and it wasn’t as hot or swollen. 24 hours later, it still has a very subtle coloring but the swelling is gone and it’s no longer hot to the touch!
(For the necessary disclaimer, we live at the home of a doctor, a nurse, and practically a P.A., and my husband is a paramedic, so yes, it did have medical attention. 😉 But sometimes we have to look outside the box for the best remedies!)
