My girls are one main reason I have chosen to be super picky about health and wellness. My boys too, but girls just tend to be exposed to more because they USE more stuff. There are so many chemicals in commercial makeup, hair products, body products, skin care, fake fragrances, etc that are NOT made to be processed by our bodies, not to mention adding in those coming from laundry detergent (coating the very things we cover our LARGEST, most permeable organ with!), household cleaners, home scents, and all the other things that we bring into our home with good intentions, but are unknowingly filling our air and bodies with toxins.
Most people would consider me a healthy person. But most people also have a low standard for health simply because health has kind of been redefined in our society. We forget that most health issues these days are primarily “invisible”, like autoimmune diseases, chronic pain and inflammation, hormone imbalances, endocrine disruption, leaky gut…I could go on and on. I’ve already predisposed my kids to a handful of those based on my own “invisible” issues, and a couple already exhibit signs. I don’t want my girls to grow up and miscarry babies over and over again! I don’t want them to be medicated for thyroid issues! I don’t want them to struggle with acne for years! I don’t want their digestive system to cause them pain and frustration! I don’t want them to deal with allergies constantly! I don’t want them to battle headaches, pain, concentration issues, dental problems, skin complications… I want them to be healthy, inside and out!
Yes, they will make their own choices as they grow. But as the gatekeeper of MY HOME, and their mother who would do anything for them, I’m going to do my best to give them a head start into living WELL.
