Trust The Process

Apparently this was me so I can’t complain. Not that I would, having a kid that reads ALL.THE.TIME. isn’t a bad thing. It is a little weird having to ask her to STOP reading at times, but hey, my five have all been book orphans at one time or another so who am I to judge? 😂

But let’s relate this to school. I taught Miss I to read early on. We started “homeschool” when she was 3. Do I think it made her the great reader she is? No, I KNOW she would be this same reader even if we’d have waited. I wouldn’t start (and haven’t started) “school” with them that early again. We do very casual stuff but it’s been less and less with each kid (partly out of necessity 😂). In fact, Mr. W is just this year starting a “full” schedule (which means math, spelling/writing/reading, and doing science, history, Bible and art with us as a family). He’s 7. Boys, especially, need extra time to just be kids. This isn’t my opinion, it’s been proven. But what I’m getting at is that even starting them later hasn’t set anyone back, they’ve not been behind, I won’t even use the phrase that they “catch up” because that implies that they were behind in the first place. But they learn fast. Those years of play before starting formal schooling have taught them more than you’d think. Mr. W can do some amazing math, he’s at the appropriate stage of reading, his art and creativity skills are on point, and he’s been exposed to the same history and science lessons as the older kids (even though we don’t “require” those until about 3rd-4th grade)..and life skills? Through the roof.

Trust the process!!! Kids are way more amazing than we give them credit for!

Hi there! My name is Brynna and I'm wife to my favorite paramedic and mama to five awesome children. We homeschool, and for a year and a half, we lived in an RV so we could travel, grow closer as a family, and prayerfully decide on a place to build our new home. I am passionate about true wellness, and I run a business with Q Sciences, where I'm able to share my love for health. I've been also found myself moving into a position of ministry for women who've suffered miscarriages/pregnancy loss, as I've had nine of my own, and I love to support and encourage young mom
